If you have ever played a golf course on a regular basis, you know the excitement of finding stray golf balls here and there, sometimes after they've busted your window out. And over time, a person can accumulate quite a large collection of different golf balls in this way. Sometimes there will be too much of a supply to know what to do with. So, what should you do with found golf balls? This is the question. Let's get a little creative, maybe even have a little fun with this... 1. Leave them be. An obvious and courteous option is to just leave the golf ball be. After all, it wasn't yours to begin with. Optionally and depending on the location, you can throw or hit the balls out to where someone else can easily find them. 2. Throw them away. This is a senseless option, but an option nonetheless. I certainly wouldn't advise it. There's not much else to say about it. 3. Keep them and play them. If the ball is in playable condition, you can keep it and add it to your play collection. Use quality woods and irons. 4. Sell them. You can sell the found golf balls to golfers at a discounted rate for a certain quantity. For helpful information on selling golf balls, see this video: 5. Use them as ammo for a golf ball gun. Now this sounds like lots of fun, a golf ball gun. Say, is that considered a dangerous weapon or a recreational item? I'll tell you: those golfers might start keeping up with their balls a little better if you pinged them in the head at random with your golf ball gun that they provided the ammo for. In all serious, don't do this. You can injure someone. 6. Use them for mini-golf. You could always open yourself up a miniature golf course and use them there, or play them at another mini-golf facility. 7. Decorate. I don't really know what a golf ball decorates, or really even how aesthetic that could be, but your imagination is limitless. Use it and try to come up with some nice ideas, or take a look at this Pinterest page. 8. Play homemade golf ball games. You could employ them in a variety of different games like:
Get the idea? What to do with found golf balls is solely up to the person that finds them, and perhaps their current mood or emotional state.
Always use your better judgement when you are faced with found golf balls. If you are reading this article, then you're probably interested in indoor golf simulators and are wanting to get one for yourself. However, the main factor which keeps golf enthusiasts away from getting their favorite simulator is the price associated with these amazing devices. To be honest, you can find golf simulators in all price ranges, starting from a mere few hundred dollars to even $60,000 or more. But the important thing to note is what your actual purpose of getting it is. Some people want it for fun and entertainment, some need it for setting up a small business, while some serious golfers look to train themselves using these simulators. Fun and Entertainment If it is just for fun/entertainment purposes, you should look for simulators which range from $300-$1000. They are good enough to give you a nice break from your hectic life and relax for a little bit. Being so inexpensive, it is obvious that you are not going to get the best of the best, but it definitely will serve its intended purpose and provide you both entertainment and the information you need. Usually, companies offering such simulators give only a basic system which consists of software and some sensors; you will have to get the computer system and screen on your own. Most people already own these things, so they will not have to spend the extra money. Also, the software provided is not very advanced. Hence, it can be run on any normal system and does not require a demanding setup. The Business Route If you are business minded and looking to set up a simulator to make a profit, then the above systems are a big NO. The reasons? When you set up a golf simulator center, the people visiting you will either be professionals or expect a professional setup. You do not want them to leave only after the first visit. These would be your potential customers, so you want them to keep returning to you on a regular basis. For this, you need to setup full-fledged golf simulators which can even cost you upwards of $40,000. But considering the returns, it will be worth it. Most companies have reduced their prices, and you can get almost all of the top-end simulators in the $20,000-$40,000 range. They are priced much higher because the software is very advanced and can almost detect all of the ball and clubs properties using advanced sensor systems. Along with that, you get the popular golf courses bundled. Other simulators may cost anywhere from $1,000 to $20,000, such as the one pictured below (click for a closer look): Professional Golf
If you belong to the last category, i.e., a professional looking to improve their game, then there are many options available. It all depends on what aspect of the game you want to refine and improve. There are a variety of simulators designed for different focuses. Some are specially designed to improve your swing by showing you your swing and helping you find your problem areas. Some just help you with putting, while some can help you improve your overall game. If you want to improve your overall game, meaning driver, irons and short game, then you should look into the types discussed above for business owners. Make sure you understand the fundamentals of the golf swing too. So, how much does an indoor golf simulator cost? Anywhere from a few hundreds bucks to $60,000 or more. Here is a nice infographic about golf club distances. If you want to know how far you should hit each golf club in the bag (whether you're a man or a woman), this will clear things up.
There is no set time that a round of golf can take. The answer will depend on how many holes you are playing, the size of your party and how many other people are on the course when you begin your play. A rough estimate for a nine-hole round of golf might be two hours for an average player while others may take as little as half of that time or as much as twice as long.
So, what can affect the length of time it takes to play your round of golf? The following things determine how long a round of golf takes: 1. Skill The skill level of not only yourself but the others in your group. Because golf is a game with set rules of etiquette, you can't just whack your ball and then mosey off to find it at will. Each hole is only concluded when all members of your party have hit and put their ball in the hole. 2. The number of people in front of you If there are people teeing off in front of you or are in the way of your next shot, your group will have to wait for them to move on. 3. The condition and layout of the course You can get an idea of what the course is like by looking at the par card. If the holes are mostly par four or five, you know it is more difficult and will take you a bit longer to play. 4. The actual dedication of the golfers If you are talking about golfers that buckle down, tee off and then go without a lot of idle chit-chat, you may go through a round surprisingly fast. On the other hand, if you are in a group that likes to stop and discusses everything from the weather to sports, you will take longer. Golf looks like a fairly simple sport at first glance. You hit the ball toward the hole, walk a bit and hit it again. It's straightforward and easy, right? Not necessarily. There are many things to consider, beginning with the way that you take that first swing (your tee shot) all the way to your final shot of the hole. In this article, I'll show you how to regrip your golf clubs. Regripping involves restoring or reinvigorating the grip of the club to have the rugged and firm grip that it had in the beginning. You may use a golf GPS unit for course management purposes, but the idea of achieving a proper grip is important for consistently and reliably making the intended contact with the golf ball. Here's how to regrip golf clubs, broken down into 6 steps: 1. Gather tools and materials. A few simple tools and supplies will be needed. The list includes:
2. Remove the old grip. You are going to slice the grip open down its full length, then pull it loose from the shaft. Before you start removing the grip, it is best to put a shaft clamp on the shaft for protection and then place the shaft in a vice. Once the club is secured, use the utility knife (with a hooked blade) to slice open the grip. Start at the small end and slice it down its entire length down to the old grip tape underneath. 3. Remove recent grip tape. Peel off all the new tape all the way down to the clean shaft. If the tape is recent and crusty, you'll need to scrape it off with a utility knife (steel shaft) or a degree new room knife with a stout blade. Take care with carbon shafts. 4. Put new grip tape on the shaft. Cut a length of new grip tape a little shorter than the new grip. Place it on the shaft with about a half an inch overhang on the butt end of the shaft. Peel off the backing. Form the tape around the shaft and tuck in the part overhanging the butt end. Avoid wrinkles and air bubbles as you wrap the tape around the shaft. 5. Slide on the new grip. To slide the new grip on the shaft, you need to make the adhesive on the tape very slippery. Do this by pouring a small amount of solvent over the tape. A small amount should be swirled around the inside of the grip also. The idea is to get all surfaces coated and slippery. The type solvent used depends on the type of tape you have purchased for the job. 6. Clean up. During the regripping process, you will have worked with adhesives, solvents, old rubber and general dirt and grime. Not only do you need to clean yourself up, but the club will also need some clean up too. For a visual, have a look at this video on how to regrip a club quickly: Take care of your clubs. Paying attention to your grips is a cheap and easy way to improve your consistency out on the course.
New grips will make your clubs feel brand new and solid without the new club price tag. |
